Dr. Matthew Simon, Psy.D., FICPPM., ABPP

Dr. Matthew SimonDr. Simon is a board certified licensed clinical psychologist in Florida and New York. He is board certified as a clinical psychologist through the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP). This means that he has completed a rigorous voluntary process to earn this extra certification beyond his training as a doctorate level psychologist. He is also board certified in psychopharmacology and has completed over 450 hours of advanced training in psychopharmacology. In addition to this, he possesses board certification in forensic psychology. Dr. Simon has been practicing for over 15 years and has served as an expert witness on numerous occasions in both family and federal court. He is an expert in psychological testing and has conducted numerous evaluations for educational, clinical, emotional, and all of the forensic reasons listed above. Dr. Simon’s expertise is in psychological testing, forensic/disability evaluation, and cognitive behavioral psychotherapy for individuals, families, and couples.

Dr. Simon is a Florida Certified Supreme Court Mediator and a Certified Parent Coordinator. Given his forensic expertise and extensive counseling background, he often assists families/couples in managing divorce. The use of a psychologist mediator can dramatically help families minimize the impact divorce may have on children. In his role as a parent coordinator or mediator, Dr. Simon puts the needs of children at the heart of his work.

Dr. Lisa Smalheiser, Psy.D.

Dr. Lisa Smalheiser, Psy.D.Dr. Lisa Smalheiser is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in the State of Florida. She received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with a specialization in Forensic Psychology, and is now a practicing psychologist at Keller Simon Healthcare & Associates. Dr. Smalheiser utilizes an integrative approach to treatment combining both cognitive behavioral and self-empowerment/motivational interviewing strategies. She prides herself in tailoring treatment to the specific needs of each and every individual, as there are no two people exactly alike. Additionally she has worked with children, adolescents and adults experiencing mood disorders, anxiety disorders, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorders, psychosis, PTSD, personality disorders, substance abuse, self-esteem, stress management and anger management difficulties. Dr. Smalheiser also has extensive experience providing psychological testing evaluations to both adults and children. You will find her to be sincere, compassionate, and a wealth of knowledge.

Dr. Smalheiser completed her pre-doctoral internship at the Los Angeles County Detention Center through the Forensic Inpatient Program, where she provided psychiatric evaluations, crisis intervention, individual and group therapy, recreational and occupational therapy, and evaluation for involuntary hospitalization for inmates with serious mental illness. She then went on to complete her post-doctoral psychology fellowship at the Adult Outpatient Treatment Facility through Jackson Memorial Hospital at the Jackson Behavioral Health Hospital, where she provided psychotherapy (i.e. assessment, consultation, direct clinical care) and psychological testing (i.e. cognitive, neuropsychological, personality) to a diverse and multicultural population. Concurrently, she worked with the Miami-Dade Pre-Trial Detention Center as part of her fellowship in order to provide incarcerated individuals with mental health treatment services while awaiting trial. She has completed the Florida Forensic Examiner Training.

In addition to her Clinical work, Dr. Smalheiser is a Certified CrossFit Coach. She is an advocate of the beneficial use of exercise, sport, and physical activity in improving one’s overall quality of life. She strives to educate others on the parallel between mental health and physical health and aims to incorporate holistic approaches stressing the mind-body connection in treatment when suitable. She supports the use of regular exercise as a viable alternative to psychopharmacology and a good complementary strategy to implement in conjunction with psychotherapy. Exercise can alleviate depression and anxiety by providing individuals with a sense of accomplishment from completing a meaningful activity, has positive effects on the brain by normalizing sleep patterns, and causes increases in serotonin that can naturally reduce depression and anxiety. Dr. Smalheiser has seen positive effects in both athletes and non-athletes, and hopes to promote an understanding in the general population of how participation in sport, exercise and physical activity affects an individual's psychological development, health and well-being throughout the lifespan.

DR. Brandy Bang, Psy.D.

DR. Brandy Bang, Psy.D.Dr. Brandy Bang has 4 years of experience working with Psychological Testing Associates and has returned to complete her post-doctoral residency. She earned her doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and completed her pre-doctoral internship at the Federal Correctional Institution/Federal Detention Center in Tallahassee, Florida. During her internship year, Dr. Bang worked with incarcerated men and women with serious mental illness and/or personality disorders providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention, substance abuse and trauma treatment, group and individual therapy for a variety of emotional and behavioral concerns, and medication management. Prior to this, she trained at the Family Violence Program in Davie, Florida providing psychotherapy to victims and perpetrators of domestic violence, the Veteranís Affairs Hospital in Miami, Florida, and conducting court-ordered forensic evaluations at the Federal Detention Center in Miami, Florida.

In addition to her clinical work experience, Dr. Bang has a background in Forensic and Police Psychology, including Critical Incident Stress Management. She has engaged in substantial research with the Crimes against Children unit of the FBI, Miami Division and was published as lead author on Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children. She continues to research and publish in this field.

Dr. Bang has extensive experience in assessment with children and adults pertaining to neurocognitive, neurodevelopmental, behavioral, learning, and other psychological disorders. She also conducts psychotherapy with children, adolescents, adults, families, and couples to include issues of mood disturbances, substance abuse, trauma and victimization, behavioral problems, self-esteem issues, serious mental illness, eating disorders, among others. At the heart of treatment, Dr. Bang emphasizes the establishment of a secure relationship with her clients to create trust and positive change. She integrates solution-focused and process-oriented interventions, positive psychology, and therapeutic life skills with the intention of creating a more balanced and meaningful sense of life and health.

Mirella Silva-Bass, LMHCMirella Silva-Bass, LMHC is a licensed psychotherapist providing counseling services to adults, children, adolescents, couples, older adult and families. She also works with forensic clients in providing parent-child reunification counseling and supervised visitations. She is a Florida Supreme Court Certified family and civil/circuit mediator, certified parent coordinator and has a Masters Degree in Business Administration. She has over 15 years of experience in helping people improve their quality of life by learning healthy and effective ways to deal with their stressors and symptoms. Mirella is Bilingual (English/Spanish) and provides psychotherapeutic services in Spanish as needed.
